In The Arts
The arts have always been a space where expression, creativity, and connection come together. Before I found my way into theatre, dance played a central role in my life. It was a way for me to release stress, build confidence, and communicate emotions beyond words. Through movement and performance, I learned how powerful self-expression can be when individuals are supported and given the space to fully be themselves.
I believe that a sense of confidence and belonging should not be limited to a select few. Everyone deserves access to creative spaces where they feel safe, respected, and empowered to express themselves in ways that feel authentic to them.
I believe accessibility and inclusion should be foundational elements of the artistic process, not afterthoughts. When access is considered from the beginning, creative spaces become more flexible, more welcoming, and more innovative. Inclusive theatre does not limit creativity; it expands it by making room for diverse ways of thinking, moving, communicating, and creating.
The purpose of this work is to support artists, educators, and arts organizations in building environments that center care, respect, and access. Within the In The Arts section, you will find suggestions for making theatre and rehearsal spaces more accessible, guidance on using inclusive and affirming language, and strategies for supporting individuals as they learn to communicate and advocate for their needs. These tools are meant to be practical, adaptable, and rooted in the belief that access looks different for everyone.
My hope is that this work encourages reflection, conversation, and action. By rethinking how we design and maintain artistic spaces, we can move toward a future where the arts are truly open to all.
